In the Classroom
Workflow Suggestions
Here is a typical Mind Gymnastics session with a suggested workflow:
- The bell rings/class period starts.
- Students are in their seats and ready to do Mind Gymnastics.
- Students have their Mind Gymnastics tracking sheet.
- The teacher starts the current set for the class from the dashboard.
- Students record their answers on the tracking sheet.
- Answers are revealed.
- Students check their answers and record their score by adding the number of correct answers to the chart on their tracking sheet.
Evaluation
After you finish the first level, there are a couple of ways to check if your students are ready to move up or if they need to repeat the same level:
- As the students are busy with another task (warm-up problems, homework check, work time), have the graphing sheet open and do a quick visual check of the line graphs to see where the majority of the class is scoring.
- Near the end of the first level, have the students record their answers on a post-it or 3 x 5 card, along with their name. Collect the cards without revealing the correct answers. This will give you the most honest assessment of their status. This will give you time to adjust the level for the next day.
- You can repeat a level multiple times before advancing to ensure that students are close to mastery at that level and pace.
